Racial Madness

Four blacks kidnapped and tortured a white mentally-challenged man while using “terrible racist statements.” (Torture streamed on Facebook Live!)

racial-madness

The Washington Post suggested it was inconsequential. CNN called it a “hazing.” One CNN panelist actually blamed Trump! NBC argued the thugs were not “truly trying to be criminal.” (Imagine saying that about the abominable Dylann Roof.)

The Chicago police refused to call it a hate crime. When is a hate crime not a hate crime? When its committed by blacks against a white male.

In related news, a university professor tweeted “All I Want for Christmas is White Genocide.” This professor remains employed.

Racial Healing Aborted

Barack Obama promised racial healing in America and racial tensions reached new heights under his presidency.

Despite Obama winning the presidency twice in a majority white nation, the racial grievance industry took control of the national debate. (No, not the KKK; the BLM.)

Phony Black Lives Matter narratives filled the airwaves, Internet, and social media.

Enslaved and energized by identity politics – and rejecting the promises and realities of Martin Luther King’s famous dream – the Black Lives Matter movement employed a range of racial myths to create a constituency and gain power and prestige. (Let’s not forget the money.)

quote-abraham-lincoln-freed-the-black-man-in-many-ways-dr-king-freed-the-white-man-how-did-ronald-reagan-137-80-36

Some of these narratives (e.g., “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot”) have been proven totally false, yet they retain a visceral power which overwhelms reason and reality.

From Ferguson to Baltimore and across the nation, Black Lives Matter propaganda has destroyed communities and created chaos.

Riots are called “protests.” Murder is deemed “social justice.”

Root Causes

So-called “white privilege” is the latest bogeyman. But blacks are not victims of a fictitious “institutionalized white racism” or presumed “white privilege.”

Rather, some blacks are victims of a fifty-year-old War on Poverty and a welfare state which has become the new plantation – created by Democrats who treat them as children. The paternalistic state gone awry.

The welfare statenot white racism – has created generational poverty, generational broken homes, and a cultural of dependency justified by allegations that blacks are victims of white racism and the legacy of slavery.

Consequently, perceiving themselves to be victims, many feel entitled to whatever they can get from the government, becoming dependent upon that government. With it, comes rage against the injustices they perceive have been perpetrated against them. And with that comes a culture of irresponsibility.

quote-white-liberals-are-the-most-racist-people-there-are-because-they-put-blacks-in-a-box-benjamin-carson-93-91-53

David French observes, “When you celebrate thugs, you get more thugs.” He laments a “depraved culture” and “breakdown in law and order.”

French concludes: “Our nation’s social fabric is fraying — nowhere more than in Chicago. This is the Left’s city, a foundation of its national power. How many more people have to die before it changes course?”

Contemporary dysfunctional black communities are not rooted in America’s founding. Rather, one need only look to Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society and subsequent iterations of the welfare state and the adoption of progressive policies and political correctness to see the development and escalation of dysfunctional pathologies in some black (and a growing number of white) communities.

America No Longer Needs to Apologize for Slavery

My MSNBC Op-Ed (7/2/97), entitled, “America has acknowledged mistakes,” is as relevant today as it was twenty years ago. Here it is:

Kimberle Crenshaw writes about passionate “white opposition” to a formal apology for slavery (neglecting to mention the many blacks who oppose it as well). While citing their objections (in her terms: “personal denial,” “finger pointing,” “traditional historicizing,” and “new-age globalizing”), she fails to refute any of those arguments. She doesn’t even try.

Instead, Crenshaw questions the motives of those opposed to an apology, saying it “reflects a deep unwillingness to desegregate American history and to integrate American self-identity.” Self-flagellation is not my self-identity.

Crenshaw contrasts post-slave, post-apartheid societies with non-slave, non-apartheid ones, failing to note that all societies are at least post-slave and, even today, many societies remain slave societies. (Why is the Left always willing to condemn America but praise our enemies?)

Crenshaw accuses the right of explaining away the black underclass as a result of “inherent characteristics.” Wrong! The right recognizes that the welfare state promotes self-destructive behaviors and the underclass is enslaved to the welfare state. Let’s forget apologies and free the underclass.

Crenshaw desires “historical closure.” Most Americans have experienced “closure” with past slavery. Constantly tearing at the scab only causes the wound to bleed.

Par for the course, Crenshaw criticizes America’s Founding Fathers for expressing the ideals of liberty for all while condoning slavery. No one disputes the divergence of these ideals and their implementation.

Crenshaw insists that whites – and American culture itself – are in a state of denial about slavery (and other historical atrocities). Denial? Our cultural elites positively revel in past American misdeeds (while glossing over our triumphs and glories).

Is Crenshaw really suggesting that Americans are denying historical slavery? Is she subtly suggesting a moral equivalence between this perceived denial and those who deny the Holocaust?

Tragically, while her ancestors may have been enslaved in chains, Crenshaw (and others) have enslaved themselves to the past. She desires “a reopening of American historical memory,” as if anyone could “forget” American slavery. She wants an acknowledgement of America’s “tragic mistakes” but Americans have already acknowledged them.

We are fast approaching a new millennium. Isn’t it time to put the past behind us, to let the wounds heal, to live for the future? Until we do, this schizophrenic identity crisis will only exacerbate the already tumultuous times we are living in.

Commonsense Guns Laws

President Obama and the Left have recently called for “commonsense gun control laws.” They are right about the need for “commonsense” but wrong about the laws to be enacted.

The operative words in their mantra – “gun control” – reveal their intent and the heart of the problem: they reject “criminal control” laws (which would curb most gun violence) and they refuse to address the mental illness (which animates mass shootings).

GunLaws

What would Commonsense Gun Laws (not “gun control”) look like? Well, the exact opposite of what Barack Obama wants.

Here are a few areas where legislation and implementation of policies would immediately make America safer:

Eliminate gun-free zones. Virtually every mass shooting has taken place in a gun-free zone precisely because the killers knew they could maximize damage while minimizing risk. Federal buildings, banks, convention centers, and other venues have armed security forces which deter crime and prevent mass shootings. Why are politicians and the wealthy protected by armed security forces, but most Americans (even our children) unprotected and told to run for their lives if a madman targets them?

Expand private ownership of guns by law-abiding citizens. Make it easier for citizens to exercise their Second Amendment rights and to thereby protect themselves, their families, and their local communities. Expanding the pool of law-abiding citizens who own guns makes it harder for criminals to do their own thing. As noted by National Review, “The number of guns in the United States has increased by 62% since 1994 but gun violence has decreased by 49% since 1993.”

Increase concealed-carry permits for law-abiding citizens. An armed populace is a deterrent to crime. When criminals don’t know who might be armed, they exercise far greater restraint in their criminal activities.

Stop coddling criminals. Giving criminals and rioters “space” to commit violence is lunacy. Providing politically correct rationalizations for criminal behavior encourages more criminal behavior. Releasing violent criminals in the interests of “fairness” endangers the American people. Get back to basics: If you do the crime, then you do the time.

Robustly address mental illness in America. Mental illness (not guns) is the root cause of most mass shootings.

Deport violent immigrants and illegal aliens. Violent crime by immigrants and illegal aliens is escalating. If they are unwilling to abide by our laws, then they should not enjoy the benefits of living in America. The first duty of government is to protect its citizens.

Reclaim the culture. This will be the hardest task of all. It requires restoring God and America to their proper places in the public school system and higher education, returning to traditional values and respect for our Judeo-Christian, Western Civilization heritage, and championing adherence to the Constitution. (Much of this is cultural, not legislative.)

The Great Society, victim culture (grievance culture), and growing sense of entitlement in primarily urban communities has engendered a culture of violence. Moreover, a culture which reveres cop-killers and promotes killing cops is dysfunctional to its core.

A culture which claims only black lives (and only those killed by white cops) matter, while all others do not, is a thoroughly bankrupt culture.

A culture which defends Planned Parenthood’s grotesque butchery while equating Southerners with Nazis – and gun owners as evil incarnate – needs rescuing.

A culture which tramples on the American flag and finds fault with everything American is suicidal.

The Left would have us do more of the same – extend the ever-expanding welfare state, subordinate local and state control to an all-powerful federal government, and escalate the demise of our American culture begun by the Countercultural Revolution of the Sixties.

Commonsense Gun Laws are indeed commonsense, but they are in opposition to the Left’s agenda of fundamentally transforming America. Most Americans want to restore American greatness and preserve (and expand) liberty, including adherence to the letter and the spirit of the Second Amendment.

Will the Constitution survive? Not if the Left succeeds in stripping it of its power.

Update: Like Socialism, gun control never works (unless, by “works,” one means limiting liberty and growing government). The following four charts demonstrate the fallacy of gun control logic.

Ask Hillary – and Other Democrats – This Question!

The liberal “mainstream” media regularly targets, en masse, Republican candidates with its narrative of the moment – and timid Republicans typically cower, duck and cover. The latest gambit – which the GOP fell for – was to demand an answer to a hypothetical question: “If you had known then what you know now, would you have invaded Iraq?”

Question

The correct answer, as David French noted, should have been “knowing now what we didn’t know then, the answer is a smarter intervention, not the same intervention – an intervention that combines the tactics and lessons of the Surge with the staying power we’ve demonstrated in other volatile hot spots, like Korea. The alternative – as we know – is a growing jihadist menace, genocide against Christians and other religious minorities, and increased instability in a geopolitically vital region.”

That is the Jeb Bush Question taken care of.

Now, let me offer you a Hillary Clinton Question. No, not about her myriad scandals, ethical lapses (can they be termed “lapses” if they are continuous?), and various missteps and imbroglios.

Instead – just as the Left targets the grand geopolitical thinking of the Right vis-à-vis military intervention – the Right should aim its sights a bit higher and larger in scope and ask the ultimate domestic policy question:

“If you had known then what you know now, would you have embraced LBJ’s Great Society and War on Poverty?

Follow-up questions:

“If so, what do you say to the millions of minorities who have been disenfranchised by these welfare programs? What of the broken lives, broken families, broken homes, broken communities, and broken social fabric in America which are a direct result of these disastrous programs?”

“How do you justify the heartache, the dashed dreams, lost hope, hate-filled anger, and desperate despair?”

“How do you justify squandering countless trillions of dollars which only served to produce counterproductive results?”

“How do you atone for resultant race riots, the destruction of whole communities, and the loss of life?”

“How do you restore the trust deficit between police officers and citizens that your liberal policies created? How do you restore the trust deficit between citizens and their government?”

“How can Americans entrust to you the future of these communities which have been devastated by your liberal policies if your only solution is to continue and expand those self-evidently destructive policies?”

Finally: “Will you do for the rest of America what you have done for Detroit, Ferguson, and Baltimore?

Root of Evil: Let’s Put ISIS on Welfare

With an astonishing refutation of reality, the White House recently announced its latest “strategy” to defeat terrorism: welfare.

(Government-created jobs are often a form of welfare.)

ISISEvil

Last night, State Department spokesman Marie Harf explained the roots cause of terrorism: unemployment. Harf asserts:

“We cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs…We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people…”

Does this White House truly believe that we can bribe terrorists to stop terrorizing? How did that succeed domestically, with the establishment of the welfare state under Johnson’s War on Poverty to create a Great Society? The War on Poverty was a failure and the poster children of the Great Society are Ferguson and Detroit.

The Obama White House has merged a Roussean view of man as noble and innocent until corrupted by society with a Socialist view of economic determinism, wherein a person’s economic status determines his character. (One cannot discount this administration’s Islamophilia.)

The root cause of terrorism is not, and never has been, unemployment. The root cause of terrorism is evil, the evil that resides in man’s heart. And the specific manifestation of that evil which compels these evil men to kill, behead, terrorize, and destroy is a desire to fulfill the wishes of Allah and pursue Islamic jihad with the end goal of creating a global, infidel-free, Muslim caliphate.

Money, jobs, and any form of appeasement will not stay the hands of these evil-doers. Evil-doers! Appeasing Putin, the Castro brothers, Iran and other tyrannical states, will not end the tyranny. Evil exists. Evil in the hearts of these evil people.

Six years of appeasement has erupted the world in flames!

The Obama administration – and the Obama administration alone – is pathologically incapable of identifying the enemy and the origins of their behavior. The enemy is Islamic jihadists whose goal is to subjugate or annihilate all those who refuse to accept Allah as God. The origins of their behavior lie in the Koran and teachings of Mohammed.

But the suicidal nonsense from the White House continues even as the jihadists are hell-bent on enflaming the globe. Harf asserted: “We cannot kill our way out of this war.”

How ludicrous! We killed our way out of World Wars I and II. Wars end after the enemy has been defeated or destroyed.

Representing an administration clearly in denial, National Security Advisor Susan Rice recently claimed, “Still, while the dangers we face may be more numerous and varied, they are not of the existential nature of what we confronted during World War II or during the Cold War. We cannot afford to be buffeted by alarmism and a nearly instantaneous new cycle.”

Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) disagreed with that assessment, declaring, “They [ISIS] are a dominant threat to peace in the world today. I really believe this. There’s never been a time when there are more threats to the United States than there is now. So as I said once before, we’re either going to fight them there or fight them here.”

America needs to engage and defeat the enemy in this world war, just as she did in the first two world wars. (Three world wars if you count the Cold War.)

Islamic jihadists pose an existential threat to America and the whole of Western Civilization.
